We are a little more than halfway through the year and it is more important than ever to get our members in for preventative services. In times like these, we need to remember that HEDIS is more than just quality scores. The primary reason HEDIS was implemented was staying on top of patient health and managing care in a more efficient way. Make sure to reach out to your members to get them signed up for appointments.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are expecting to see more changes from NCQA regarding HEDIS and the way providers are expected to provide care. So far, we know changes for HEDIS measurement year 2020 include Adolescent Well Care Visits (AWC) and Well-Child Visits in the Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Years of Life (W34). They will be combined to Child and Adolescent Well-Care Visits (WCV). The Well-Child Visits in the First 15 Months of Life (W15) measure was also revised to Well-Child Visits in the First 30 Months of Life (W30). We expect to have more information about additional changes in July.
